Preparatory work for routine bearing inspection
The preparation work for regular bearing inspection is completed in the following 6 steps:
Rotate the outer ring and carefully rinse the interface between the cage, rolling elements, and raceway, ensuring that any residual oil in any hidden areas is thoroughly cleaned. After cleaning, the bearing should be drained of the cleaning oil, dried on a workbench lined with clean neutral lining paper, or slowly dried in a far-infrared oven. From the time the cleaning oil is drained until it is air-dried or oven-dried, the bearing rings, cage, or any rolling elements must not be rotated. Rolling bearings should only be removed from their oil seal packaging immediately before routine inspection and immersed in washing gasoline or acid-free kerosene containing 3% machine oil.
Lubricating oil should be added as specified and the bearing should be inspected immediately after air-drying or oven-drying. At this time, the outer surface of the bearing has no oil film protection. The operator should wear clean gloves or apply rust inhibitor to their hands during the entire inspection process, but must avoid mixing the rust inhibitor on their hands with the rolling surface of the bearing, otherwise the measurement results will be affected.
After the inspection is completed, the bearing should be put into use immediately or undergo rust-proof storage. The entire inspection process should also be completed quickly to prevent rust from occurring due to prolonged time. Note that cleaning with pure gasoline without machine oil can also cause rust.
After air-drying or oven-drying, lubricating oil should be added as specified and the bearing should be inspected immediately. At this time, the outer surface of the bearing has no oil film protection. During the entire inspection process, the operator's skin should not directly touch the bearing. The operator should wear clean gloves or apply rust inhibitor to their hands, but must avoid mixing the rust inhibitor on their hands with the rolling surface of the bearing, otherwise the measurement results will be affected.

Before inspection, the bearings, together with the gauge blocks, standard parts, and measuring instruments used for inspection, should be placed on a metal plate in the inspection area to allow these items to quickly reach a uniform temperature and room temperature.
