Basic knowledge and brief introduction of bearings
Bearings can be divided into two main categories: rolling bearings and sliding bearings, depending on the frictional properties of the moving components. Rolling bearings are standardized and serialized, but compared to sliding bearings, they have larger radial dimensions, greater vibration and noise, and are also more expensive.
Rolling bearings generally consist of four parts: an outer ring, an inner ring, rolling elements, and a cage. According to the shape of the rolling elements, rolling bearings are divided into two main categories: ball bearings and roller bearings.
China is one of the earliest countries in the world to invent rolling bearings. Ancient Chinese texts contain records of the structure of wheel axle bearings. Based on archaeological artifacts and materials, the oldest bearing in China with the rudimentary structure of a modern rolling bearing appeared between 221 and 207 BC (Qin Dynasty) in Xuejiaya Village, Yongji County, Shanxi Province. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, particularly since the 1970s, the bearing industry has entered a new period of high-quality and rapid development, driven by the reform and opening up.
